I immediately called Esso to ask if they could check if my license plate was at the car wash. The woman who helped me immediately said it wasn't, otherwise someone would have brought it to the counter long ago. I told her it had only been a short time since I'd washed my car. But she wouldn't budge. She was certain it wasn't there. I then had to order new license plates for 50 euros. A few days later, my neighbor said, "I saw a license plate at the Esso in Bergen. Could it be yours?" I went over there. And indeed, it was mine. When I complained about it at the counter, the woman who helped me said it wasn't her fault. She wasn't on duty. I didn't get a response. I filed a complaint with Esso. Then I received an email from the owner with an apology and a free platinum wash. Today, full of good intentions, I went to Esso to get the free car wash. However, I was told that Esso had changed ownership in the meantime and that they felt no obligation to offer me a free car wash. They hadn't made that promise. I couldn't believe it.
